Hi, I’m Andre and I’m an enabler and consultant at the Camaradería on LinkedIn. In this article, we’re going to give some simple tips that will help you to improve your search for jobs on LinkedIn.
The first step is to click on the “privacy and configuration settings”. Then, click on select “job search preferences” and click on “show interest in headhunters». Finally, active the green button and manage your job alerts on LinkedIn.
Another step is to create jobs alerts. Go to “jobs”, add the keywords and select the city where you’d like to work. You have the option to filter the date, level of experience, company, type of contract, or remote work. You can select daily or weekly notifications, which you can receive in your email, on your LinkedIn profile or both. Finally, activate the green button.
The third step is to open the link here where you can see the nominated companies of the Ranking “The best places to work in Colombia in 2020”. Reference: Great place to work.
This list is divided in:
– Company with 300 workers.
– 301 to 1500 workers.
– More than 1500 workers.
In addition, you can filter for headquarters, economic sector, number of workers, position of the ranking (Great Place to Work in Colombia) and finally LinkedIn Business pages. Open now the drive Google link. If you run into any trouble, just give us a call or sent us a chat message on LinkedIn.
When you’re going to search for a job on LinkedIn, you should update your profile photo on LinkedIn and add the hashtag #OpentoWork. This will give you more opportunities in your search for a job.
You just click on the option “open to work” then scroll down and select job titles maximum (5), job locations, start date, job types. The last important action is that you have to choose between the following 2 options:
- All LinkedIn members. This includes all members on LinkedIn, including recruiters and people at your current company. This option automatically adds the #OpenToWork photo frame.
2. Recruiters only. This option only includes People using LinkedIn Recruiter and won’t add the hashtag “open to work”. Recruiters at your current company won’t see that you’re looking for a job.
The fourth step is to set up your headline on LinkedIn. It’s Important to ask yourself…Comrade, what is your purpose on LinkedIn? And What’s your goal? Do you want a personal profile or a LinkedIn company page?
Then, it is necessary to have a “brainstorm session” in order to create a 300 characters headline. This should include your preferred sector, your current job or for instance your personal and profesional challenges.
The keywords in the headline will help the recruiter, client or company to identify your expertise and interest, which facilitates the selection process. Keep in mind that when you share information on your timeline, or when you write comments on LinkedIn, your photo, name, hashtag and headline will always be visible for everybody.
A very common mistake is to write the sentence “I’m looking for a new job” in the headline. This action won’t help you with your goal. If you’re student or practitioner we recommended you to add the areas of competence that you consider to be important for your future professional career.
On the other hand, it’s a good idea to open a new incognito explorer and search for your name.
This will allow you to see your activities on the Internet. Go to your LinkedIn page, right click on your profile photo and then click on “Search Google for image”. This will show Google’s classification of your photo.
